Information message about the felt earthquake in th region of Lake Baikal, December 9, 2020

The felt earthquake with M=5.3 (strong in the epicenter on ShSI-17 scale) has occurred on December 9, 2020 at 21:44 GMT (December 10 at 00:44 Moscow time) in the region of Lake Baikal.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 10 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 11 stations, accurate processing - with data from 55.

The red marker on the map presents the epicenter of this earthqauke which origin was in the area of Lake Baikal at the depth of 10 km, 25 km NE of Korsakovo, 90 km SW of Khudzhira and 169 km E of Irkutsk.
