Information message about a tangible earthquake in the area of Lake Baikal on September 21, 2020

An earthquake (strong at the epicenter on the SHSI-17 scale) with M = 5.2 occurred on September 21, 2020 at 18:04 GMT (21:04 Moscow time) in the area of Lake Baikal.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 11 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 15 stations, accurate processing - with data from 57.

The red marker on the map is the epicenter of the earthquake, it's origin was located in Irkutsk region, at a depth of 10 km, 20 km W-NW of Kultuk, 28 km NW of Slyudyanka and 80 km SW of Irkutsk.
