The red marker on the map is the epicenter of the earthquake, the origin was located in Tajikistan, at a depth of 120 km, 175 km E-NE of Faizabad, Afghanistan, 280 km S of Ferghana, Uzbekistan, and 310 km E-SE of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.

Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Chuyangaron (∆ 2.6º), Ala-Archa (∆ 5º), Makanchi Array (∆ 11.6º), Kurchatov (∆ 13.6º), Zalesovo (∆ 18.2º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Arti (∆ 20.7º), Garni (∆ 21.5º), Belogornoye (∆ 22.5º), Khabaz (∆ 22.9º), Kislovodsk (∆ 23.1º).

The focal mechanism solution of the origin for this earthquake was calculated in GS RAS with signs of initial arrivals of P waves at 60 stations, including 22 stations which registered compression waves (plus signs) and 38 stations which registered tensile waves (minus signs). Threse stations are located in the interval of epicentral distances 1.7-97.9º and in the azimuth sector Az=9-356º. The focal mechanism solution in the stereographic projection on the lower hemisphere and the elements of the mechanism are presented in the table.. The table also presents focal mechanism solutions obtained in USGS NEIC with W-phase Moment Tensor (Mww) technique and at German Research Center for Geosciences, GFZ. The earthquake occurred due to the slight prevalence of tensile stresses oriented to the SE (AZ=124-133º) according to GS RAS and GFZ and S-SE (AZ=153º) according to USGS NEIC. One nodal plane NP1 strikes SE (STK=132º) according to GS RAS, N-NE (STK=24º) according to USGS NEIC and E according to (STK=94º) GFZ, another plane NP2 strikes W-SW (STK=236-249º). NP2 plane lies more hollow (DP=12-34º) if compared with NP1 (DP=73-80º). The type of motion along NP1 – right latteral slip with reverse fault component according to GS RAS, the thrust with left latteral slip component according to USGS NEIC and thrust with right latteral slip component according to GFZ, for NP2 – reverse fault. According to USGS NEIC Mo= 2.802*10**17 N*m, Mww=5.6. According to GFZ – Mo=3.7*10**17 N*m, Mw=5.6.
