Information message about a strong earthquake in the Aegean Sea July 20, 2017

A strong earthquake with M = 6.5 occurred on July 20, 2017 at 22:31 GMT (on July 21 at 01:31 am Moscow time) in the Aegean Sea.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 9 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 18 stations, accurate processing - with data from 57.

The red marker on the map shows the epicenter of the earthquake, its focus was in the Aegean Sea, in the Dodecan Islands, at a depth of 10 km, 10 km S-SW of Bodrum, Turkey, 10 km N-NE of Kos , Greece.
