The red marker on the map is the epicenter of the earthquake, the origin of which was in the Krasnodar region, at a depth of 10 km, 19 km E-NE of Anapa, 36 km NW of Novorossiysk and 116 km W of Krasnodar.

According to GS RAS the earthquake was felt in the following sites (on the Richter scale): Gostagaevskaya with a magnitude of 5; Anapa, Anapskaya, Raevskaya, Tsibanobalka, Su-Psekh with a magnitude of 4-5; Verkhnebakansky, Sukko with a magnitude of 4; Gaiduk, Krymsk, Myskhako, Novorossiysk, Temryuk, Vityazevo with a magnitude of 3-4; Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Troitskaya, Kerch with a magnitude of 3, and Sevastopol with a magnitude of 2.
Focal mechanism solution of the origin was obtained by GS RAS with signs of initial arrivals of P waves at 113 stations, including 52 stations which registered compression waves (plus signs), and 61 stations which registered tensile waves (minus signs). The stations are located in the interval of epicentral distances 0.2-76.5º and in azimuth sector Az=3-357º. Focal mechanism solution in stereographic projection on the lower hemisphere and elements of the mechanism are presented in the table. The earthquake was caused by predominantly south-southeast oriented compression stresses. (AZ=156º). One nodal plane NP1 strikes W-SW (STK=257º), another plane NP2 strikes E-NE (STK=62º). NP1 is dipping more horizontally (DP=20º) if compared with NP2 (DP=71º). The type of motion along NP1 – thrust, along NP2 – reverse fault. Seismic moment of an earthquake was obtained in GS RAS with spectra of P waves registered at the station "Arti" (∆ 17.3º), it makes Mo=1.647*10**16 N*m, Mw=4.8.
