The red marker on the map is the epicenter of the earthquake, which was located in central Colombia in the department of Cundinamarca, at a depth of 10 km, 52 km east-northeast of Villavicencio and 96 km east-southeast of Bogota, the capital of Colombia.

Focal mechanism solution of the origin was calculated by GS RAS with signs of initial arrivals of P waves at 79 stations, including 59 stations which registered compression waves (plus signs), and 20 stations which registered tensile waves (minus signs). The stations are located in the interval of epicentral distances 1.2-100º and in azimuth sector Az=1-354º. Focal mechanism solution in stereographic projection on the lower hemisphere and elements of the mechanism are presented in the table. The table also contains focal mechanism solutions obtained at the USGS NEIC with WW-phase Moment Tensor (Mww) technique and in Lamont-Dohert Earth Observatory of Columbia University, USA (LDEO GCMT) with СМТ (Centroid moment tensor) technique. Solutions from different centers are close. The earthquake was caused by predominantly compressive stresses oriented W-NW. (AZ=297-300º). One nodal plane NP1 strikes S-SW (STK=202-205º), another NP2 strikes NE (STK=35º-39º) according to GS RAS and LDEO GCMT and N-NE (STK=30º) according to USGS NEIC. NP2 plane is more horizontal (DP=32-43º) if compared with NP1 (DP=48-58º). The type of motion along both planes – reverse fault. The seismic moment of the earthquake was obtained in GS RAS from the spectrum of P waves registered at the station "Lovozero" (∆ 92.6º), it makes Mo=6.528*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.5. The seismic moment according to USGS NEIC makes Mo=3.826*10**18 N*m, Mww=6.3. According to LDEO GCMT it makes Mo=4.39*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.4.
