Information message about a strong earthquake in the Chukotka Region on May 6, 2024.

An earthquake (strong at the epicenter on the SIS-17 scale) with M=5.0 occurred on May 6, 2024 at 11:11 a.m. Greenwich time (2:11 p.m. Moscow time) in the Chukotka Autonomous Region. <br /> SIS-17 - Earthquakes. Seismic intensity scale. State Standard 57546–2017.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 12 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 10 stations, accurate processing - with data from 54.

The red marker on the map is the epicenter of the earthquake, the origin of which was in the Chukotka Autonomous Region, at a depth of 10 km, 88 km W of Vankarem, 126 km E-SE of Cape Schmidt, 190 km N-NE of Egvekinot and 410 km NE of Anadyr.
