Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Matsushiro (∆ 1.2º), Erimo (∆ 6.5º), Vladivostok (∆ 7º), Taejon (∆ 8º), Yuzhno-Kurilsk (∆ 9.3º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (∆ 10.3º), Kuldur (∆ 12.4º), Severo-Kurilsk (∆ 18.9º), Petropavlovsk (∆ 21.6º), Magadan (∆ 23.8º).

GS RAS registered one foreshock with a magnitude of M=5.8 four minutes before the main shock и 28 aftershocks with М>=4.5 within a day after it.

According to TASS, 232 people died, 1,036 were injured. Strong shocks were felt in Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo. High-speed trains was stopped. Ishikawa Prefecture suffered the most from the disaster: at least 1,370 houses were completely or partially destroyed there, and fires destroyed more than 300 buildings. More than 32 thousand houses were left without electricity, dozens of settlements were left without water. Damage to the road surface was observed.
According to U.S. Tsunami Warning System, a tsunami threat was announced. Maximum tsunami wave height of 0.58 m was observed in Toyama, Japan.
According to Japan Meteorological Agency｜Tsunami Warnings/Advisories., the maximum tsunami wave with a height of more than 1.2 m was recorded in Wajima, Japan.
According to automatic sensors of the tsunami warning system Primhydromet Tsunami Center, the maximum wave height near the coast of Primorye was registered at 30 cm (Preobrazhenie, Rudnaya Pristan, Sosunovo). Waves reached 10-20 cm in the cities of Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
Figure 1was obtained from USGS NEIC, it presents USGS Community Internet Intensity map made by 151 responses in 80 cities.

Focal mechanism solution of the origin was calculated in GS RAS with signs of initial arrivals of P waves at 124 stations, including 85 stations which registered compression waves (plus signs), and 39 stations which registered tensile waves (minus signs). The stations are located in the epicentral interval of 1-98.6º and azimuth sector Az=3-355º. Focal mechanism solution in stereographic projection on the lower hemisphere and elements of the mechanism are presented in the table. The table also contains focal mechanism solutions obtained at the USGS NEIC with WW-phase Moment Tensor (Mww) technique and in Lamont-Dohert Earth Observatory of Columbia University, USA (LDEO GCMT) with СМТ (Centroid moment tensor) technique. Solutions from different centers are close. The earthquake occurred under the influence of prevailing compression stresses oriented NW (AZ=307-310º). One nodal plane NP1 strikes S-SW (STK=209-213º), another plane NP2 strikes NE (STK=41-49º), both planes are dipping at close angles (DIP=37-50º). The type of motion along both planes – reverse fault. The seismic moment of the earthquake was obtained by the GS RAS from the spectra of longitudinal waves at the station "Obninsk" (∆=65.7º), it makes Mo=9.96*10**19 N*m, Mw=7.3. The seismic moment according to USGS NEIC makes Mo=2.268*10**20 N*m, Mww=7.5. According to LDEO GCMT it makes Mo=2.47*10**20 N*m, Mw=7.5.
