Information message about a strong earthquake in Pakistan, 6 October 2021

An earthquake (very strong in the epicenter on the SHSI-17 scale) with M = 5.9 occurred on October 6, 2021 at 22:01 GMT (October 7 at 01:01 Moscow time) in Pakistan.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 8 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 14 stations, accurate processing - with data from 62.

The red marker the map shows the epicenter of the earthquake, the origin of which was in southwestern Pakistan in the province of Baluchistan at a depth of 10 km, 101 km E of Quetta and 605 km SW of Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
