Information message about a tangible earthquake in the western part of Sakhalin Island, September 13, 2020

A tangible earthquake (significant at the epicenter on the SHSI-17 scale) with M = 5.1 occurred on September 13, 2020 at 13:42 GMT (16:42 Moscow time) in the western part of Sakhalin Island.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 15 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 22 stations, accurate processing - with data from 49.

The red marker on the map is the epicenter of the earthquake, it's origin was located in the west of the Sakhalin Island, at a depth of 10 km, 14 km S-SW of Uglegorsk, 58 km N of Krasnogorsk, 229 km N-NW of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
