An earthquake (very strong on the SHSI-17 scale) with M = 6 occurred on January 19, 2020 at 13:27 GMT (16:27 Moscow time) in South Xinjiang, China,.

Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 8 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).

Preliminary processing has been done with data from 16 stations, accurate processing - with data from 66.

The red marker on the map shows the epicenter of the earthquake, the origin was located in South Xinjiang, China, at a depth of 10 km, 103 km E-NE of Kashgar, China, 383 km S of Almaty, Kazakhstan, 394 km SE of Bishkek, the capital Kyrgyzstan.
