Focal mechanism solution of this earthquake is presented in the table, it was obtained in USGS NEIC with W-phase Moment Tensor (Mww) technique and in LDEO GCMT with СМТ (Centroid moment tensor) technique.
Solutions obtained in different centers are close.
According to USGS NEIC the earthquake has occurred under prevailing action of compression stresses oriented north-east (AZ=16º). Nodal plane NP1 is nearly vertical (DP=81º), it strikes south-west (STK=243º). Nodal plane NP2 – is more flat and strikes south-east (STK=147º). The type of motion is slip (for NP1 left latteral, for NP2 right latteral) with elements of reverse fault.
According to LDEO GCMT this earthquake has occurred under the action of nearly equal compression and tensile stresses (PL=16-21º). Nodal plane NP1 is almost vertical (DP=87º) and strikes south-east (STK=148º). Nodal plane NP2 is more flat (DP=63º) and strikes north-east (STK=57º). The type of motion is slip (for NP1 right latteral, for NP2 left latteral) with elements of normal fault.
Seismic moment according to USGS NEIC – 8,011*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.5, according to LDEO GCMT - 9,27*10**18 N*m, Mw=6.6.
